Crystal Phallus

-Group Stage-

Hill FC went into Gameweek 4 back on top of group 2 after a convincing 3-0 win over Bruno FC in the midweek. They came up against a Crystal Phallus side only playing their second group game after a 4-0 win against Bohfenians only two days earlier.

Things got off to a fantastic start, with Sideeq hitting a long range strike right into the top left corner (with his weak foot) which is already a goal of the season contender. He’d looked like scoring for weeks so to open his account in this way surprised no one. A few minutes of choppy football went by before a shot was saved by Mark but he’d spilled it into his net for 1-1. The lads kept their nerve and only minutes later, that man again Ryan Glynn restored our lead with a looped finish after a scuff around in the opposition box. The lead didn’t last however as Phallus kept up the pressure down our end and a great finish brought the score to 2-2 going into the break.

Though it was anyone’s game coming back into the second half, Phallus had made the right substitutes to drive forward early and take the lead for the first time with a wonderful finish. The heads didn’t drop and the lads kept the pressure up. Devon being brought down in the box but a penalty call wasn’t given, perhaps the only mistake we can call the ref out on (which is good for a change). Phallus weren’t done however and eventually grabbed a fourth. The game was very much end to end for a large portion of the second half with the final product only just lacking for the hill in a game that could have easily been rescued by the lads. Phallus got forward late and another scuff this time in our box ended with the ball in the net for 5-2.

There was no one at fault for anything and thankfully everyone in the squad is firmly in the mentality that we win as a team and lose as a team, and we will recover.
