-Quarter Final-

After a big week for the team, with no choice but to win our last two games in two days in order to qualify, the team showed grit and delivered huge results seeing us seal our place in the quarter finals. Drawing up against Mandy Carroll, who themselves had an 100% record coming out of group 1 the lads knew it wouldn’t be easy.

The first half started dominant, the lads kept the ball close and kept things simple and this was effective in keeping Mandy out of the game. Then only minutes in, a standard long range goal kick from keeper Josh Whelan had caught the wind, bouncing over the keeper and finding its way into the back of the net. No one quite knew how to react. Josh couldn’t control his celebrations and neither could the sideline as we all celebrated such a rare moment. That was the kick the Hill needed to the Mandy Carroll morale and showed that luck was definitely on our side. We kept up that same pressure this starting 11 is so known for, before Mandy’s keeper showed up late and slotted in to add a small bit of nerve to our minds. That was lifted almost straight away as Jordan scored our second in the first play since that keeper’s introduction. That pressure remained crucial as Jordan found the net again and our constant pushing of their goal mouth gave us a three goal cushion at halftime.

Second half saw introductions of Bano and Sid, as the Hill had the favourable task of hanging onto our lead and see our progression to the semi final. The team did just that with Mandy Carroll’s motivation seemingly in the gutter, Hill had chances almost every two minutes being so unlucky to not be more ahead. After some big misses Jordan grabbed his hat trick goal with some nifty footwork from outside the box. To say if Mandy weren’t down and out before that was the nail in their coffin.
