Put Your Willian

-UCD Super Champions League-

-Group Stage-

June 12th, 2021

In the club’s first ever competitive match, drawn in Group 2 of the UCD Super Champions League, we faced another new side Put Your Willian in what was our first test. The lads got off to a decent start, pathetic referee decisions cost us multiple chances as well as penalty calls before a soft free kick allowed PYW to take the lead.

Rather than let that get the lads down, everyone kept the head up. We re grouped and got the ball playing well for the rest of the first half and chances only came against us when the referee’s horrendous decisions allowed it.

We came out the right way in the second half with it only taking a matter of minutes for Ryan Glynn to bag the equaliser, the club’s first ever goal. After missing a one on one moments before there would be no repeat of that this time round as Ryan neatly chipped it over the keeper rolling into the goal. From that point we’d broken down PYW who’s heads sunk and we were in the driving seat. Ryan then went and grabbed another to put us 2-1 up, with Conor Round bagging our third on his debut just seconds after. From then the ball didn’t leave the opposition half. Bano, Devon, Rounder and Oisin Breathnach all causing them danger the whole time, with Ryan able to pounce and grab himself another 2 goals to see the result out and put us top of the table after Gameweek 1.
