This fixture proved to be one of our toughest yet, huge absences around the park meant we were unsure how we’d look going into the game. Alongside this, Two Goals had been enjoying a similarly good season to us, topping Group 6 and put up a convincing showing tonight. What they couldn’t account for is this team’s remarkable ability to pull it out of the bag when it matters, and they’ve done so yet again.

Solid start to the game early was rewarded when Lewis Bishop burst down the line and found Alex Drumm who slotted away our opening goal. Two Goals were not put off by this in any way and came out fighting but we held it to a 1-0 lead at half time.

Second half was fiercely competitive, both sides locked horns and missed chance after chance. Shoutout Coulter, who won’t be planning on kids any time soon 😳 gotta hurt. Two Goals kept up the fight and grabbed back an equaliser early into the restart, which split the game wide open. Many occasion it looked like both sides could grab winners, but cometh the hour, cometh the man. Step up, Chris Murphy. Starting to feel like the hero of this season, goalkeeper turned full back turned CDM turned winger turned striker, received the ball just inside the box and gambled, putting away a beautiful curled shot into the far corner to restore our lead. A huge goal that eventually saw us take home all three points in a huge must win game, and we re-top the champions league table. Lonely at the top, but real ones know it’s got the best views.

Shoutout Tom Murphy on his Hill return in net landing the role of Spider-Man with that performance, huge saves in some big moments and he remained un phased, alongside debutants Cathal and Jack O’Donnell, hopefully much more to come 🧡
